This is another of the element pieces. As a person brought up with incinerators and open fires I have a fondness for it.
I did not feel fondly towards it when it was approaching my house in the Black Saturday fires( It stopped about 1km away) .
In understanding global warming I am now aware that timber stores carbon and that the more we burn the greater the carbon component in the air. I still have an open fire( well Koonara really) but my concern is with large areas that are burnt to remove unwanted vegetation some of this is necessary at present but some countries ( Indonesia, Brazil) seem to go well and truly overboard in clearing country this way.
I have branches to clear on my property but I now look at mulching most of it rather than burning it..perhaps every little bit counts?
