I seem to be having a session on working on animal shapes. I have often done bird forms in my seats but this is the first one as a sculpture. As a kid I used to have a budgie, Nan had a canary but as I have got older I sort of dislike the idea of caging thingsespecially refugees! My bird is beautiful in form but she has no room to fly and I like the subtle message that is implicit in it. The gilded cage is implied by the golden ring.. and although there are no barsmy bird is mainly 2-D so she cant react in the third dimension.
