I have been playing with rocks as part of my sculptures and I had the idea of using the broken marble to suggest an egg form.The marble came from the studio of an artist who died and I find it sort of appropriate that� this new piece is really a rebirth of the materials she was going to use. By doing the other side with a patching of metal I have suggested the mechanical side of birth these days with many couples availing themselves of IVF technology. My girl is opening the egg and the �hatchling� is hesitantly looking around� I am happy with the combination of materials and forms � as I should be�!
