I made a series of ½ ball forms a long while ago for making different sizes of junk balls. The actual making of the balls took forever so I gave the forms to my neighbour who was making junk horseshoe balls at that stage. He eventually decided he didn’t need them, so I got them back and they have sat outside the shed. I decided to make them into sculptures and this is the first. I call it protection for it seems very solid ( and it is)  but for protection from the rain it is not particularly effective… still it looks good although it doesn’t work, is way too heavy and is welded to a stand.

This piece is on display at Loch at present
