I have never been a runner,  I could never catch my breath and I felt no delight in running at all. Like my sculptures of dancers I tend to make things that I can’t do in real life. This character came about as I had a small lightning bolt left on the desk and I thought to use it in this type of form. However, having made the runner I thought to try those lines you get in cartoons to show movement. I haven’t done them before and I think they work quite well.
