I did this piece for the Jindivick sculpture show. I had seen a picture with a living form behind a face mask and it appealed to me.Ihave done a number of big heads over my career but I liked the idea of using mirror to reflect whoever was looking at it an that we all wear masks of some form.. different personas we put on depending on the circumstances. The face is fairly devoid of expression( as a mask often is) but the fractured reflections work quite well. It looks a bit like some native idol and the size is sort of meant to be a reflection that when we put on a mask we allow the scared little boy to be big and brave( in my case) also I just wanted to do a big form again!
