I bought a small furnace a while ago aiming to use up some of the pile of wase non ferrous metals. I did a few flowers and birds and decided to try a body form using foam as a initial material. When the molten metal is poured in the foam melts and the metal takes up its shape. I had to do at least three pours to fill the form and when it was released from the sand it was sort of a bit rough in joining. I initially was disheartened but after a while I cleaned it up with the grinder and flap disc and overall was happy with the antique result.. sort of looking like a found Greek sculpture missing arms etc. I will do more but just have to find the time. It is mounted on a lovely piece of redgum
