I was making a large sculpture and I had planned to use the basic curve of this piece as part of it, just facing the other way. When I got to the assembly point I decided that it would be too heavy for me to move so I reoriented the first part and hence had to decide what to do for this part. I did like the sort of embracing aspect to it sort of like St Peters in Rome ( which I have seen in books) and it mostly went from there. There is an old James Taylor song called “country comfort” and I get that impression from this piece.
