There seems quite a few aspects of the modern world which seem to apply to this piece. Our profusion of plastic, climate change changing economic situation and odd wars  all seem to be things which could have been avoided and dealt with in more sensible ways. Maybe not an elephant in the room but certainly something that needs looking at!
