I started this piece after seeing a lovely semicircular sculpture by a wood sculptor Avery Benoit. I modified the form considerably and used tube as the ribs. I was originally going to use scrap for the infil but as I was using nails for a few other smaller pieces I thought that this would give a lovely contrast of fineness and solidity. It did take a while, but at a panel a day it was not too boring. I then changed the orientation of the piece so it was a bit more dynamic and added the ball as a focus. It doesn’t have any real meaning apart from suggesting that its all the small connections that make the world work.
