I made this sculpture after another piece I had made blew over in strong winds. The other piece had an aluminium housing for a bearing and this broke. The dress on my girl was originally the stand of the other piece and there was no harm to it and it was such an attractive piece. I decided to use the ball which was the top part of the piece as a ball the girl would have under her arm and it seems to work well also. I did have to add head hands and feet and I was quite happy to have a range of sizes as it gives a certain abstract quality. I have never really been a ball type character myself but I did appreciate people who were footballers netballers basketballers as they could all move gracefully and speedily. Me not so much!
