I have done a series of heart forms this year and have decided that I will follow through with a few more. In this piece I had lots of brass and copper fixtures and fittings that had come my way over the last few years and I decided to try to use them for their textural quality and colour. I guess a heart of brass can be cold and unforgiving but I added the two figures to create a sense of linkage and a sort of strength.. which Brass can sort of represent too. I am happy with the colour effect and the sort of plumbing reference which echoes the heart’s prime purpose.Brass also does not rust … it may tarnish a bit but the material more or less lasts forever and that also is a fine echo of love.
