I saw a man who had made a tree model inside a stump and I liked the contrast of timber to the tree form. I have also been watching a girl in Canada who cuts out lots of trees with her plasmacutter and I thought that would be fun to try. I also have been working through some of my saved wood pile and there are some lovely pieces of timber in it. I also had a small bird I had made that was on the bench and I thought that would add to the composition. Everything came together and wood for the tree came about.
